DAY 53--Where there are windmills...

...you can expect to have wind. We had a sunny but chilly start, and a headwind all day. We were again riding mostly through flat farmland, and saw a great variety of crops--corn, soybeans, apples, asparagus, peppers, pumpkins, squash, raspberries, and grapes.
We stopped at a "Wind Interpretive Center" which told all about the wind farm of 66 turbines in the area.
In one of the small towns we stopped at the local bakery, and at an artist's co-op, where we picked up a couple of fine souvenirs.
The road stayed mainly up on a bluff, except when we came to the numerous little towns. There, the road took a steep downhill, followed by a steep uphill to climb back out of town.
We camped near Lake Erie at the Norfolk Conservation Area near Fort Ryerse.
