DAY 46--Goodbye Badgers, Hello Wolverines

This morning after we broke camp, we all went to the nearby beach to have a look. After that we drove into Two Rivers where we visited a house museum, nicely restored and furnished. It also had an ice cream parlor that is reputed to be the place where the ice cream sundae was created. Of course we had some ice cream! Following that we drove on to Manitowoc for brunch, and walked around downtown a bit.
We headed over to the car ferry. There we said goodbye to Ann, Gary, and Joel, and we boarded the ferry, the S.S. Badger, to cross Lake Michigan. The day was rainy so we didn't have a great view, but we were out of sight of land quickly. The trip took about 4 hours. We rode our bikes around the deck to make up for the miles we were skipping. No. No, we didn't.
We visited with a guy who was riding his motorcycle from Seattle to New Jersey, with his dog along. Part of the time we tried Bingo with no luck. Then the 3 of us put our heads together, along with another passenger, and we won the group trivia contest. We each got to pick out a small prize.
We debarked in Ludington, MI, now having completed 7 states and 3 time zones. We set up camp in a nearby park (in the drizzle) and went to town for pizza.
