DAY 48--Raindrops keep falling on my head

More of the same--drizzly and cloudy all day long. At least the trail is nice--continuing on the Pere Marquette Rail Trail. Michigan is quite pretty--very lush and green, a lot of farmland, nice wooded areas. We stopped along the way for soup (to warm us up a bit) and doughnuts, because, well, because we can.
Saw several white-tailed deer along the trail.
Several organizations (including Adventure Cycling Association, Rails to Trails Conservancy, and Bicycle America) are  working to create a bicycle interstate system around the country. The state of Michigan is one of the first to jump on this bandwagon, in part because they recognize the great boost to their economy from cycle tourism. They already have designated and signed routes.
We camped at a state forest campground right next to the river. There were exceptionally tall trees in the park, and there were very few people there. We took a walk down by the river and around camp.
I found it very amusing to see a sign in the park that said: "This area is periodically treated with adulticide Zenivex as part of a community control program." (I understand that they were talking about mosquitoes, but REALLY!)
